LOOK: This artist reimagined Disney characters in traditional Filipino wear

Growing up with Disney films, I was enamored by all the stories. From the glitz and glamour of all the royal characters to the heroic adventures they all went through, the stories that unfolded on the screen were gripping from beginning to end. We were taught that true love and courage would prevail and that goodness and bravery were all we needed. What was common with a lot of these movies, however, is that none of the heroes or heroines looked like us Filipinos! And while we can definitely appreciate stories from anywhere in the world, isn’t it more exciting seeing a protagonist that looks like us and has our culture?

Which is why these illustrations by Cedrhick Fajardo made our hearts flutter! Look how these characters we grew up with are so beautifully rendered wearing our national garb. Gorgeous! Here are just some of them:
