If you think you need a professional camera to take awesome nature photos, these images will prove otherwise.

James Obstaculo shared these pictures of the Mayon Volcano with the iconic cloud formation shaped like a salakot. According to Obstaculo, “These photos were taken last Friday afternoon, April 23, 2021, here in Guinobatan, Albay. I used my smartphone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 8) in taking the photos. I also used a telephoto lens in capturing the close-up shots of Mayon.”

James is a mechanical engineer from Guinobatan, Albay. Currently, he’s helping his parents in their family business.

He said, “Naging hobby ko lang recently ang mobile photography especially nung nagsimula yung quarantine last year. Hilig ko kunan ng pictures yung Mayon, sunset, moon, and paminsan-minsan yung night sky if the weather permits.” [“Mobile photography recently became my hobby, especially when the quarantine started last year. I like taking pictures of Mayon, the sunset, moon, and sometimes the night sky if the weather permits.”]

James describes himself as a beginner who’s trying to improve his skills by learning the fundamentals of photography and using photo processing apps.
