The young singer revealed the new ink to her 166 Million followers on Instagram which was a simple one-word tattoo of her album’s title located just below her right ear. “Did it again,” she wrote on the caption.

It joins the few other meaningful tattoos on her body which all symbolize meaningful occasions that happened in her life, including one that commemorated the date of her kidney transplant, one she got with her best friends, and a large one on her thigh that symbolized her religious faith.

Selena has been very open about the impact of recording “Rare” on her life. In an interview with Spotify, she shared that it was a “nightmare” to record because of all the “drastic” moments she’s experienced in the past few years involving her former flames The Weeknd and Justin Bieber.

However, she shared that all these experiences paved the way for healing. “All of a sudden, I found this healing and I saw something bigger than what I thought that I was, and I think that also added the whole end of the album,” she said.

She also explained the reason behind the title of her new album and what it had meant to her.

“So I heard ‘rare’ a few years ago and I just thought that was me, if that makes sense. Obviously I’ve had a lot of self-esteem issues in the past. I still struggle with confidence…it’s going to be something I’ll always be working on. And so ‘rare’ made me feel incredible and I ended up cutting the record before all the other stuff came together. And I never let go of that. That name was so important to me. The moment I heard it I said, ‘That’s the name of my album.’ Because that to me was such a special word. If there’s anything that I can do for women and men would be to tell them that they’re valued, and that they’re rare, and that they’re important.”
