LOOK: Netizen Calls Out Manila Government For Canal Filled with Trash

There is a saying that small things, done repeatedly, can have a big impact. It’s supposed to be a feel-good quote about breaking down a large task into small, bite-size pieces, but it could also mean something negative. Especially when it is related to trash.

Trash, no matter how small, can have a large impact when left unguarded. Take a look at these pictures shared by Judy Go on Facebook. The photos are of a canal in the City of Manila, brimming with so much trash that you can barely see the water.

According to Judy:

Estero of Manila. Calling the government and the Manilenos: Please‬ keep your environment clean.

Improper waste disposal can inflict a lot of damage on the environment. They can contaminate the soil and the air around them, and release chemicals that can build up in the ozone layer or contribute to climate change and global warming. If they are left in the water, it can threaten marine life and other animals that come into contact with it.

And all these can be stopped by properly disposing that plastic bag or that candy wrapper.

It may sound like it won’t do anything, but if thousands of Filipinos just hold on to their trash until they find a trash can, it will help a lot.
