Miss Earth – Philippines 2020 Roxanne Baeyens is blowing Pinoys away with her stunning costume inspired by a character from the popular game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The beauty queen shared the photos on her Instagram account this week in which she expressed her admiration for the character Rafaela, whom she was dressed up as.
“‘Angel of H E A L I N G,'” she began on her post. “My designer’s inspiration is Rafaela (healing for everyone). Although I have never played Mobile Legends before, reading a lot about her made me see why people [have] grown so fond of her.”
Quoting Rafaela’s official description, Roxanne wrote: “‘She is sent by heaven to alleviate the suffering in the world, Rafaela descends on the Land of Dawn to heal all pain and punish all evil with the holy light’. Amidst this pandemic, we all need someone like her. To heal us not only from [COVID-19] but also from detrimental effects to our environment.”
She wore a costume of golden armor, with intricately-designed wings and her own scepter. Roxanne shared that parts of the costume were made from old tires and slippers—proof that all you need is ingenuity to create something as magical and remarkable without harming the environment or contributing to the world’s waste.

Previously, Roxanne also wore a gown inspired by Filipino superheroine Darna for the Miss Earth 2020 preliminary gown competition which was designed by Rian Fernandez. “The top is encrusted with lattice pattern and gold baroque bead embroidery. It is purely handcrafted bejeweled with rhinestones, sequins, and Swarovski crystals. Orange brings [spontaneity] and a positive look in life and is a great color to use during this time of pandemic, keeping us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life. This piece is a true character of a modern Filipina in saving the earth,” she described on the caption.

Roxanne will be representing the country in the global Miss Earth pageant this coming November 29.
