A fire broke out on Mt. Apo (near the peak) last March 26. Â Everyone was appalled, especially the mountaineers. When I went to Davao, I asked some of the locals what could have been the cause of the wildfire. Some blamed it on the hot weather and others thought someone lit a cigarette and threw it somwhere.
But, whatever the reason may be, the damage has been done.

Mt. Apo is the highest point with an elevation of 3144 Meters above sea level, making it the Grand Father of all Philippine Mountains and the dream mountain of every Filipino mountaineer.
As luck would have it, a group of courageous fire killers helped put out the fire. And, I still get the chills every time I see their picture!
