Twitter was drowning in sudden waves of the hashtag #NoToArjoTheUser. It seemed so spontaneous, these hordes of AlDub fans slamming down on Maine’s boyfriend Arjo Atayde in favor of the on-screen couple Maine (as Yaya Dub) and Alden. Dozens of angry fans were tagging the two in their tweets or even replying to Maine’s dance cover of Tala by Sarah Geronimo. Yikes.
Maine, in a classy move, tweeted something of her own in defense of her boyfriend. Instead of slamming down the hashtag head-on, she responded with something more positive.

Shortly after, #YesToArjo started to trend as well, toppling over the previous hashtag in support of Maine and her significant other. Supportive fans began to spread the hashtag far and wide to silence those who would criticize Maine for not sharing an off-screen love with her on-screen love interest. More power to you, Maine! We love you!!!
