LOOK: Labor Day Job Fair to Happen at Resorts World Manila on May 1

In celebration of Labor Day, the country’s premier entertainment and lifestyle destination Resorts World Manila (RWM) will hold a one-day Job Fair at its Newport Mall on May 1, 7:00AM, to fill part of over 1400 gaming job vacancies for the year in the IR’s hotel and gaming segments.

Fresh graduates of the country’s K12 program are welcome to apply provided they are 21 years old and above, with over 300 gaming associate hopefuls having the chance to land jobs on the spot via RWM’s One-Day Hiring Process. Hospitality applicants on the other hand may drop their resumes in designated drop boxes during the job fair for management review. Applicants are requested to come in corporate attire.

Resorts World Manila Labor DayOver 1,400 job openings are available this year at the country’s pioneering integrated resort, Resorts World Manila.

“RWM needs more employees or ‘Thrillmakers’, who will be trained and deployed for the Grand Wing, and then we will continue to hire 200 more who we will be boarding on a monthly basis,” according to RWM Chief Gaming Officer for Gaming Operations and Marketing Hakan Dagtas.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the country’s employment rate decreased to 60.2% in January this year from a high of 62.

2% during the same period of 2018. The figure reflects an increase of 387,000 Filipinos who are available for work but are unemployed as compared to the same period last year. The RWM job fair is positioned as the integrated resort’s (IR) contribution in easing the current unemployment rate in the country.

As RWM continues with its expansion projects buttressed by the addition of the Grand Wing which is poised to cater to the upscale VVIP market, plus the opening of two major hotel brands in Hilton Manila and Sheraton Manila Hotel earlier in the year, more job vacancies arose in preparation of the projected tourist influx.

“We are proud to say that among the IRs in the country, we employ the least number of foreign employees. We strive to give employment opportunities to Filipinos not only in Metro Manila but also to those in the provinces. We’ve held recruitments caravans in Bacolod, Bohol, Davao, Iloilo, Ozamis, Pangasinan and other provinces,” said RWM Chief Human Resources Officer Theresa Llamas.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has earlier set its tourist arrival targets at 8.2 million this year with visitors mainly coming from South Korea, China, USA, and Japan. A segment of the tourist arrivals in previous years are seen to have been drawn by the country’s blooming integrated resort industry.

In partnership with RWM for the Labor Day Job Fair are Hilton Manila, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hotel Okura Manila, Marriott Hotel Manila, Belmont Hotel Manila, Savoy Hotel Manila, Holiday Inn Express Manila, and Star Cruises Philippines.
