The activists were nabbed within the University of the Philippines Cebu campus this morning during a demonstration against the anti-terrorism bill after they allegedly violated the ban on mass gatherings under the general community quarantine.
The individuals who were arrested were revealed to be Bern Caรฑedo of UP Cebu University Student Council, Nar Athena Mae Porlas of Anakbayan UP Cebu, UP alumnus Al Ingking, Joahanna Veloso of the National Union of Students of the Philippines, Jaime Paglinawan of BAYAN Central Visayas, Dyan Paula Gumanao of Kabataan Partylist Cebu, and Janry Ubal of Food Not Bombs Cebu.
Paras, who plays for the UP Fighting Maroons, took to Twitter to voice out his thoughts on the incident and express support for those who participated in the rally.
“I saw the news in Cebu about my fellow [Iskos] and Iskas. To all my people there who got arrested, thank you [for] standing up for what is right,” he said. “To all [the Iskos] and Iskas in Cebu & everywhere else, stay strong, stay safe, and stand ten toes down. We will raise money to bail those affected!”

Paras has also expressed his opposition to the anti-terrorism bill on social media. Earlier this week, he called on fellow influencers and celebrities to use their platform to speak out on pressing issues. Today, he made a post on Instagram to show solidarity with all those fighting for justice around the world.
“I am a human being. I will stand up for what is right. I will NEVER shut up and just dribble,” he said.
