This past few days, Filipinos in Metro Manila have been scrambling to replenish their stock of paracetamol amid the flu season and the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, which has led to certain brands reportedly going out of stock.
In light of the situation, actor Jerald Napoles decided to humor his friends and followers by sending a private message to fellow celebrity John Lloyd Cruz, who is famous for endorsing the most popular paracetamol brand in the country.
“Lods, baka may naipit kang Biogesic [diyan] (Idol, perhaps you have Biogesic stuck in there somewhere),” Jerald said in his direct Instagram message to the “One More Chance” actor.
He then posted a screenshot on his Instagram page, adding in jest, “Hintay ko lang reply ni Lodi. (Just waiting for idol’s reply.)”
His post garnered many reactions from his friends and followers, most of whom were highly entertained by his joke.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health advised everyone to avoid panic-buying and to purchase alternative paracetamol brands amid the supposed shortage as they are just as effective. The Department of Trade and Industry also suggested that drugstores should limit purchase quantity to prevent hoarding.
