A helpless pangolin who fell victim among stray dogs was saved by a college student in Palawan, according to ABS-CBN News.
Estrelieta Longakit, a marine biology student from Barangay Luzviminda, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, said that stray dogs were attacking the pangolin so she took action.
After saving the pangolin, she turned it over to the custody of the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC).
Pangolins (or balintong) are endemic in Palawan. They can also be spotted on adjacent islands including Busuanga, Calauit Island, Coron, Dumaran, and Culion.
The pangolin is listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a threatened species.
It is illegal to sell, trade, or collect pangolins.
