Urban life happens so fast that we barely see the things happening around us. We’re always focused on our goal at hand, and letting it slip from our gaze for a second can disorient us. But for a photographer like Don Marc Dondon, it’s the little moments in life that inform his work. So it comes to no surprise that he would discover a fellow photographer – this time, a Japanese named Tendo Kato – as he sold beautiful printed photos on a sidewalk in Cebu… at your price.
According to Dondon, who posted his story on Facebook:
I saw this guy selling his photos in the side of the street in Ayala. I asked him how much, and he said “Your price.” Clearly the guy’s got way more talent than me. I bought one of his photos for P50, and I asked him to sign the back. People like him makes Cebu a more colorful place. One day I’ll have the guts to sell my pics like he does.
Dondon, a professional wedding and events photographer for After Shoot, managed to meet Kato again to dig deeper into his background. According to Dondon, Kato has been living in Cebu for two months to study English. He got the idea to sell photos from his trips around the world when he saw someone doing it in a street in Thailand. When Dondon met him, it was Kato’s third time to do it.
