As classes and graduation rites in Luzon remain suspended due to the ongoing public health crisis, a graduating student of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños thought of a creative way to fulfill her mom’s wish to have a family photo wearing their sablays.
In a Facebook post, Alyssa Georgine Guerrero shared screenshots of her character in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game together with the characters representing her mom and her older brother all wearing a custom-made design of the UP sablay.
“It is my mom’s dream to have a photo taken of my brother and I wearing our sablays. It will have to wait so sa Animal Crossing muna (we’ll have to do it on Animal Crossing first),” she shared on the post.
“Notice my sablay is on the other way! Respecting UP tradition even in the virtual world!” she added.
Alyssa, who is currently taking BS Development Communication in UPLB, is only waiting to submit her thesis for approval. She would have graduated this June 2020 alongside her older brother, who is a senior in UP Law.
Her mother is also a graduate of UP with a degree in BA Broadcasting Communication in 1990, minoring in History.
