LOOK: Company Creates Drive-thru Horror House, And it’s Seriously Mortifying

Imagine this: you’re in your car driving at night when suddenly, something goes bump. You slow down, wondering what it might have been. But before you could even open your car door to check, a ghost bathed in blood jumps at your window out of nowhere, watching you as you scream at the top of your lungs.

This is the scenario that you will be able to experience at Kowagarasetai, a limited-time drive-thru horror house in Japan.

With COVID-19 restrictions making it difficult for production companies to stage events, Kowagarasetai founder Kenta Iwana sought inspiration from drive-in cinemas and other establishments incorporating the drive-thru element with the horror house experience.

“With the virus, I knew there would be no way we could have a traditional haunted house, with all that screaming in a small confined space,” he told CNN.

The haunted house is located at a covered parking garage in Tokyo which simulates being stuck in a stationary vehicle while a zombie apocalypse is happening outside. Guests can use their own car or rent one on-site.

The event was only held for two days in July but because of the massive appeal and the long waitlist, the company is considering adding more dates.
