She’s definitely not a second-rate trying-hard copycat.
Veteran actress Cherie Gil announced that she wrote her own book, titled Kontrabida Contradiva, and it’s coming out soon!
Gil announced the news on her Instagram, where she shared the cover. The splash of wine is a reference to her iconic scene in Bituing Walang Ningning, where she threw water on Sharon Cuneta’s face after uttering, “you’re nothing but a second-rate trying-hard copycat.”
The actress said, “This is it! I’m finally coming out! With my very first book! Something I have always been asked to do but never had space, energy or even the gall to do so. I’ve reached a place in my life where I don’t give a F***ng S**t to say it as it is. In my own words and thoughts.”
She went on to thank the people who helped her develop the book, including “@everythingsfineph @orealvertigo for painstakingly creating this very first mock draft all by his very own hands (super touched!) @radikalchick for prodding me and patiently putting up with my eccentricities, complexities, and what have you, and brilliantly curating and editing every word and phrase.”
There’s no word when it will come out, but we’re excited to see what it will be about. Maybe how to be a kontrabida?
