There’s a spot in the city where romance remains in full swing. Treating the guests to live performances of jazz and bossa nova music, accompanied by deluxe dining, “A Grand Love Story with Sitti” at the Grand Cobo Events Place in Marikina City was a dinner concert in celebration of romantic music, good food, and love—the complete trifecta for the ideal date night.
From foreign hits like Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E”, the iconic “Moon River”, then memorable chart-toppers like “Tattooed On My Mind” and her personal hit, “Para Sa Akin”, Sitti serenaded with local and foreign love songs in a unique way that only the country’s Queen of Bossa Nova could.
Leaving the audience lovestruck with her cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, Sitti also delivered her own rendition of pop songs—be it an upbeat Maroon 5 song or a slow-dance anthem—and introduced a surprising twist of the bossa nova sound to each track. What stood out in her performance was how she easily transitions from a tune to another, carrying her audience into an emotional and fluid flux of romance, nostalgia, and bubbly joy.
Versatile, oozing with talent, and charm, the OPM hitmaker maintains a free-flowing interaction with the crowd, cracking a joke every so often, approaching the tables and gets up close with the guests—a fond gesture that’s as endearing as every song in the concert’s setlist. With her romantic anecdotes and candid storytelling, the singer makes her audience swoon and reminisce with more than just music. Bringing in even more performances of acoustic and jazz love songs, The G7 Band and Jason Ventinilla also came to support the bossa nova singer.
The love songs, fittingly complemented by the delectable dinner served throughout the show, created a fusion of a memorable dining experience. Through appetizers until desserts, the combination of Italian, French, and Mediterranean dishes served offered a well-thought of combo that doesn’t leave you shortchanged. In full effect of rose petals strewn over table tops, candlelight, and soothing music crooning softly in the background, the Grand Cobo Events Place deftly transformed into a romantic venue fit for a night to remember.
