The new Banksy work features a child playing with a nurse doll, soaring above his head with a cape and a surgical facemask. Next to the child is a wastebasket where toys of Batman and Spider-Man lay forgotten.

According to the BBC, Banksy included a note with the painting which reads: “Thanks for all you’re doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if its only black and white.”

Hospital chief executive Paula Head tweeted of the work: “So proud to reveal this amazing piece of art ‘Painting for Saints’, created by #Banksy as a thank you to all those who work with and for the NHS and our hospital. An inspirational backdrop to pause and reflect in these unprecedented times.”
