Just days after Taal Volcano spewed ash up to nine miles into the air, Angel Locsin was seen mobilizing relief efforts for evacuees.
On Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram stories, the actress posted, “Anyone here na may na-conduct na assessment kung anong mga kailangan, anu-anong baranggays at ilang families per baranggay? Thank you #Taal.” [“Anyone here who has conducted an assessment of what is needed? Which baranggays need it and how many families per baranggay? Thank you #Taal”]
Today, Angel also posted a prayer on Facebook, saying, “Almighty Father you are the most powerful God that could put and end to all the calamities that are happening now. We beg for your mercy to please bless your children sufferings from these calamities. Especially those in the nearby town of Taal volcano from its eruption. Amen.”
Just last month, Angel was recognized by Forbes in its Heroes of Philanthropy list. The annual list includes billionaires, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the region who are “committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific.”
She was included in the list for donating P1 million and distributing truckloads of relief supplies to affected residents during the earthquakes in Mindanao last October.
Taal Volcano update:
Taal Volcano is still under alert level 4, which means that a “hazardous eruption” could happen in the coming hours or days. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) strongly recommends the “total evacuation of Taal Volcano Island and areas at high risk to pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami within a 14-kilometer radius from Taal Main Crater.”
