Alicia Vikander (from “Ex Machina” and “The Danish Girl”) wears the iconic tank top and cargo pants as she plays Lara Croft in the upcoming “Tomb Raider” movie.
Lara Croft was previously popularized by Angelina Jolie. With a new actress playing it, this version comes with a new backstory. Moreover, it has new drive for her adventures.
With the upcoming film, the brief backstory shows that seven years after the disappearance of Lara’s father, she refused to take the reins of his global business empire. She decided to work as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. This leads her to investigate her father’s disappearance that brought her to her father’s last known location, a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.
The new Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie is produced by Graham King. It is directed by Roar Uthaug.
The movie is slated for US theaters on March 16, 2018.
