LOL: Here’s Why A Chicken Might Go To Jail

Maurice the rooster was put on a trial in France on July 4 but the dispute has been going on for over 2 years. Much to the owner’s dismay, it has become a bigger issue as the chicken going on trial has split the people coming from rural and urban communities.

In the court battle, the feathered animal is the defendant as the debate about his case is mainly about the “noise disturbance” he causes when it’s early in the morning and he is crowing loudly.

An old and retired couple aged 65 and 70 filed the legal case for “abnormal noise disturbance” where he was described in court as quiet pensioners. They mainly complained about how Maurice the rooster created abnormally high levels of noise disturbing the peace of their home on the island as he crowed each morning at 6:30 am, according to The Guardian.

According to the rooster’s owner, Corinne Fesseau, her neighbors in the village of Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron, on the Isle of Oléron has already complained back in April 2017 where they asked to keep Maurice quiet.
“The solution is for people to understand that the countryside is still the countryside and we must tolerate the crows of the rooster,” said Fesseau. “I want to protect all the roosters in France.”
On behalf of Maurice the rooster, the owner She appeared in court due to concern the chicken would disturb the court’s proceedings.
Fesseau has reportedly shared with CNN that several people came to court with their roosters to show support.
“We are in a classic dispute, with noise problems and city dwellers who do not understand,” she said.
A verdict on the dispute is due on September 5.
