Lobby, Debate, and Collaborate on the upcoming 4th Southern Luzon Model United Nations Conference 2019

When in Manila feature

The Southern Luzon Model United Nations Conference (SLMUNC), to be held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, is a conference organized by UP Model United Nations. It is the first MUN conference in Laguna that aims to provide a platform where high school and college students may engage in diplomatic discourse on various global issues and pursue resolutions through collaboration.

On its 4th installment, the Southern Luzon Model United Nations Conference (SLMUNC) 2019 will be having “Refining Inclusive Growth and Development” as the unifying theme. In the spirit of collaboration and diplomacy, we will be tackling the issue of how minority groups, as well as other vulnerable sectors, should be included in the international framework of addressing people’s agenda vis-à-vis the local economic and development strategies of UN member states.

These will be achieved as the students collaborate with their co-delegates into engaging in fruitful debates to create resolutions on the topics at hand. This year, SLMUNC shall have four committees: UN Security Council, UN Human Rights Council, UN Economic and Social Council, and the Food and Agriculture Organization, each committee discussing pressing global issues.

Furthermore, part of the conference’s proceeds will go to Kanlungan sa ER-Ma Ministry, Inc., a child-caring agency in Malate, Manila that shelters abandoned children as our conference aspires in contributing to the improvement of social welfare of these children.

SLMUNC will be held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños on April 6-7, 2019.
