The Southern Luzon Model United Nations Conference (SLMUNC), to be held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, is a conference organized by UP Model United Nations. It aims to introduce high school and college students to the concept of Model United Nations and provide them a stage where they can discuss and collaborate through diplomatic means.

Specifically, this conference aims (1) to simulate the United Nations – its major organs, subsidiary bodies, and specialized agencies, (2) to stimulate discourse on a wide array of current global issues, and (3) to invigorate the social skills of the delegates as they collaborate within their respective committees. These will be achieved as the students collaborate with their co-delegates into creating resolutions that would address the issues that their committees will face. This year, SLMUNC shall have four committees: UN Security Council, UN Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, and the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Furthermore, SLMUNC shall have a keynote speech from Professor Richard Heydarian, a political analyst and opinion columnist, who shall enlighten the delegates and advisers of the significance of diplomacy to the global issues today.

SLMUNC will be held in the University of the Philippines Los Baños on March 4-5, 2017.
