Lionel Richie to work on new Disney movie-musical

It looks like we’re going to get a Disney movie-musical with Lionel Richie’s songs. According to a report from Variety, the singer-songwriter is in the early development of the said production.

The musical is tentatively called All Night Long, named after the singer’s hit song. The report said that Richie sold his pitch to the studio last January.

The project will be produced alongside his manager Bruce Eskowitz, together with Dana Brunetti and Matt Del Piano from Cavalry Media. Variety also reports that Pete Chiarelli will be writing the script. Chiarelli is known for his work in the movies Crazy Rich Asians and The Proposal.

Disney eyes for a theatrical release of the project and is hoping for the same success as other movie-musicals released the previous years. Richie has won four Grammy Awards throughout his career and is currently a judge on American Idol.
