Former “One Direction” star Liam Payne has confirmed his split with fiancee, model Maya Henry, only less than a year since they announced their engagement.
Liam revealed this during his guest appearance on the podcast “The Diary Of A CEO” this week when he was asked by host Steven Bartlett if he was currently single. “I am indeed,” he said.
He went on to lament over how “disappointed” he feels over his failed relationships which he takes full responsibility for.
“I feel like, more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself [that] I keep on hurting people. That annoys me,” he shared. “I’ve just not been very good at relationships and I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point. I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.”
“That’s where I got to in my last relationship. I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being,” he continued. “I can honestly say I feel better out of it. I didn’t feel good doing what I did but it had to happen. That’s just the corniest way of saying it was the best for us both – whatever, cool, nice story, bro. But it just feels like that.”
“I know it was a problem so I need to sort myself. I already feel good. It has already got me more concentrated and I hope she is happy,” he added.
Liam and Maya have been spotted in numerous public events together in 2019 and announced their engagement in August 2020. Prior to Maya, Liam dated another singer, Cheryl, between 2016 and 2018 and shares a son with her.
