Leonor Will Never Die bagged another win as it was given the Amplify Voices Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

During the awarding ceremony, director Martika Ramirez Escobar said, “Wow, this is too surreal. When we were making this film a few years ago, we never expected to even get this far. All we wanted was to screen our tiny film in a cinema and we got more than that. Thank you, TIFF. Thank you to the entire team for taking care of us.”

Leonor Will Never Die was the closing night film of Midnight Madness, a TIFF program that screens the ”best in action, horror, shock and fantasy cinema.” This year’s opening night film is Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe.

The TIFF is one of the most prestigious international film festivals in the world. Over the course of 11 days, the festival screens international and Canadian movies. Its special events feature some of the biggest names in the industry and discuss diverse and innovative perspectives on the art and business of film.

Leonor Will Never Die also won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Innovative Spirit at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

The movie will be screened in the Philippines on September 22, 2022, at the University of the Philippines Cine Adarna (care of UP Cineastes) and on September 24 at Greenbelt Cinemas.
