Lemonade Drama: Alleged “Becky with the Good Hair” in BeyoncĂ©’s New Album Speaks Out

“There is no truth to the rumors.”

Designer Rachel Roy, who is rumored to be Jay-Z’s past mistress, finally speaks out. Ever since BeyoncĂ©’s new album Lemonade dropped last April 23rd, the rumors, speculations, and allegations have been flying. Lemonade, the well-received album that it is, seems to be revolving around one central theme—infidelity. But did Jay-Z really cheat on Queen Bey? Although we’re not sure if art is imitating life in this case, it sounds like the songs do heavily imply so. But one of the biggest questions in people’s minds is: with whom did Jay-Z cheat?

BeyoncĂ© referenced the possible other woman in her song Sorry, singing, “you better call Becky with the good hair.” And, of course, The Queen’s army of fans are dying to know who “Becky” is. Rachel Roy only added more fuel to the fire when she posted an Instagram photo after Lemonade came out and captioned it “Good hair, don’t care.” (WTF right??)

But after receiving a pretty bad backlash from—most probably—Bey’s adoring fans, Rachel Roy has finally released a statement to PEOPLE, denying all the allegations. She says:

“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”

Well, there you go. Perhaps Roy’s Instagram caption was really only ill-timed? We’ll never know.
