Heads up, Pinoy theater fans: Musical theater veteran Lea Salonga is presenting the Tony Awards on June 11!
The Voice Teens coach announced the exciting news on her Twitter account, writing:
“I am leaving on a jet plane tonight…FOR THIS!!! It’s official, I’ll be presenting at the Tony Awards this Sunday, June 11!
It’s theater’s biggest night, and I am thrilled to be heading there!

Lea Salonga has quite the history with musical theater, of course: she won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical at West End’s Olivier Awards in 1990 and was the first Asian to win a Tony Award in 1991, both for her performance as Kim in Miss Saigon.
Lea was most recently on Broadway for the musical Allegiance, where she starred alongside George Takei.
Other stars presenting at this year’s Tony Awards include Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Josh Gad, Sara Bareilles, Rachel Bloom, Glenn Close, and Whoopi Goldberg.
