LANY’s 3-Day Sold Out Show in Manila Got Everyone Dancing and Crying All Night

Los Angeles-based indie pop trio LANY recently returned to Manila for another sold-out show. It was a massive 3-day concert held at the Mall of Asia Arena from July 23 to 25 for their Malibu Nights Tour.

After the opening act performance of British pop singer, Mabel, a two-minute countdown began. When Jake and Les showed up, screams echoed in the whole arena. In a few seconds, Paul ran on the stage, amazed and excited.

LANY opened the show with their latest single from Malibu Nights album, Thick and Thin, followed by old but gold and dancy tracks, Good Girls and 4ever, which made the crowd sing their hearts out. They performed a total of 18 songs, including hit singles from their previous album and EPs such as ILYSB, Super Far, HericanePink Skies, Made in Hollywood, and Yea, Babe, No Way.

The crowd went crazy when the band walked towards the B-stage between the Patron and VIP area where they intimately played one of their breakup songs, 13. The whole arena was filled with pink lights during Malibu Nights that left the crowd in awe. Another highlight was hearing these fresh tracks: Taking Me BackI Don’t Wanna Love You Anymore, If You See Her, and Run live for the first time! It also got the crowd dancing and ugly-crying because, well: #somuchfeels.

In the middle of the show, Paul expressed how thankful and lucky they are for their fans.“Thank you so much for spending your heart and money, your time. We are so grateful for being here. Thank you for being here tonight. It means the world to us.”

Aside from Les and Jake, Paul also introduced their newest friend, Jules, their guitarist for those three nights.

“We made history tonight. We’re the first band to play three sold out nights. You did that. Welcome to history books, Manila. I love you so much,” Paul said on the last day of their show. “Nobody’s better than you, Manila. Nobody. We will come back for the rest of our lives,” he added.

A familiar intro started playing until everyone shouted “This hurts like hell!”, the chills! You will see the crowd jumping while singing every line in Thru These Tears. Different emotions poured all over the arena. The band ended the night with their classic hit ILYSB where everyone sang in unison. Goosebumps indeed! Paul uttered, “Mahal kita, sobra” before leaving the stage. LANY left us heartbroken and ecstatic at the same time.

It was definitely a night to remember for all of the Filipino LANY fans. We are so looking forward to seeing them again next year!

Special thanks to MMI Live and Karpos Multimedia for making these amazing nights happen!
