It’s official: homegrown basketball prodigy Kobe Paras will be a UCLA Bruin come 2016!
Benjie Paras’ son, who was a star player in La Salle Greenhills before moving to the States to play for Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, made his commitment to the University of California, Los Angeles official this week.
The UCLA Bruins’ website had this to say about Paras afterย officially signing up:
“We’re always looking for players whoโve grown up immersed in basketball, and Kobe definitely fits that mold,โ Alford [Steve Alford, UCLA head coach] said. โHe just loves the game. To add a talented player like Kobe to our program is terrific. Heโs a very athletic guard who plays with tremendous energy. We like how he can attack off the dribble and get to the rim in the open court, and weโre excited that heโll be joining us in Westwood.โ
Kobe also took to Instagram to post the exciting announcement:
Kobe also represented the Philippines in the FIBA Asia Under-18 3×3 Championships, where he won the slam dunk contest in 2015.
Congrats, Kobe!!
What do you think of this? Do you think Kobe has what it takes to make it to the NBA?
