Kobe Paras No Longer Enrolling In UCLA For Not Meeting “Academic Conditions”

Rising Filipino basketball star Kobe Paras, son of Benjie Paras has reportedly withdrawn from the University of California Los Angeles after failing to meet the school’s “academic conditions”, according to a statement released by the university.

Kobe Paras officially commits to UCLA

The 6’6” Kobe, who last played with the Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, signed a National Letter of Intent to join UCLA, after he was given an offer to be part of the team.

According to the Los Angeles Times, there was an issue with Kobe’s Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores, despite being a consistent honor student. Kobe scored a 1750 on the SATs, regarded as a high score, but the UCLA average freshman admission score is 2064.

The 18-year-old athlete has stayed silent on social media regarding the turn of events and made his Instagram account private. Meanwhile, the program said that they would clarify the issues on the athlete’s withdrawal from the school.

Reports say however, that the high school phenom is still eligible to play for an NCAA Division 1 program, and that some schools have already gotten in touch with Kobe’s coaches.

We’re hoping all goes well for Kobe!
