When in Manila teams up for the first time with Kindassault. Since its inception in August 2007, Kindassault has booked and produced a lot of shows in Manila, both international and local acts. Some of these shows include Grimes (which was featured here on When in Manila by Koji Arsua), Jens Lekman, Kings of Convenience, The Radio Dept., and Toro y Moi, among many awesome others.
This month, Kindassault brings Japandroids to Manila.
Japandroids is a guitar-and-drums duo from Vancouver, Canada. They may be just a two-piece “band,” but what they lack in manpower compensates with how hard they rock.
“After self-releasing two EPs, 2007’s All Lies and 2008’s Lullaby Death Jams, Japandroids released their critically acclaimed debut album Post-Nothing via Polyvinyl in 2009. The boys toured extensively throughout 2009–2010, playing over 200 shows in more than 20 countries, and quickly gained notoriety for their extremely energetic live performances. Finding it difficult to write and record a second album in the midst of such a heavy touring schedule, Japandroids released a series of 7” singles throughout 2010, each one recorded during a brief interval between tours. The same year, Japandroids re-released their first two EPs as a compilation titled No Singles, which included a booklet detailing their early history.” – from Kindassault
The Japandroids show will be at the Hard Rock Cafe in Glorietta 3 on August 19 at 8PM. It will be opened by a local all-girl rock group, Flying Ipis. Meanwhile, here’s a video of Japandroids performing live so you’ll want to see them play in flesh as well!
Tickets are sold at Php 1,200 (pre-sale) and Php 1,500 (at the door) each. Both come with a free drink! See you there!
