Kim Chiu is making all her friends and followers on Instagram laugh by writing an appreciation post to her face shield, the wearable plastic face protection that the Philippine government recently ordered as “no longer mandatory” under Alert Levels 3, 2, and 1.
Though many Filipinos were quick to rejoice over the news, Kim actually took time to express her gratitude to the object for making her feel safe against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Salamat sa lahat ng pinagsamahan natin, almost two years din tayong mag-ON, masaya ako na dumating ka sa buhay ko kahit minsan naiinis nako sayo pero wala akong narinig na reklamo mula sayo,” she began on her post, wherein she had shared a collage photo of her wearing her face shield while hosting “It’s Showtime.”
“Salamat sa pag protekta sakin sa mga bagay na kinakatakutan ko. Ikaw pa nga ang unang humaharap. Masaya ako na nakilala kita face to face,” she continued. “Mamimiss kita, pero I think its about time to let go!!!! Ingat ka ha?? Wag kana balik. Salamat nalang sa lahat. Move on na tayo!”
Many of her fans and friends took to the comments to laugh at the hilarious post and to write their own messages to their face shields.
As of writing, face shields can be worn on a voluntary basis, except at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and areas under Alert Level 5 where wearing them is still mandatory. Places under Alert Level 4 may be required to wear face shields under the discretion of the LGUs and private establishments.
