Everyone on planet Earth has felt kilig, but the English language doesn’t have a word for it. Basically, it’s the shiver that runs down your spine when you’re with someone you like.
Now, everyone in the world can verbalize that feeling as the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) now recognizes kilig as one of its words.
OED announced its list of new words earlier this week.
The list contains over a hundred words, kilig being one of them. According to the website, it can be used as an adjective: “Of a person: exhilarated by an exciting or romantic experience; thrilled, elated, gratified,” or a noun: “Exhilaration or elation caused by an exciting or romantic experience; an instance of this, a thrill.
“
OED also used phrases you could attach the word to, citing “kilig to the bones,” “kilig factor,” and “kilig moment” as examples.
