Karen Davila confirms that Julius Babao will be leaving ABS-CBN and that he is spending his final week with the network.
On Instagram, Davila said, “FULL CIRCLE. Of my 20 years in ABSCBN, Julius Babao has been my co-anchor the longest. He is not just a colleague but a friend.”
She also cited their history together, saying, “We first partnered in TV Patrol World from 2004-2010 with Ted Failon and then Bandila in 2010-2019 with Ces Drilon. So you can imagine, I’m feeling nostalgic anchoring with Julius on his last week with ABSCBN.”
Davila also shared a quote that Freddie Garcia, the former president of ABS-CBN Corporation, told her. She said, “the great Freddie Garcia once told me, ‘Karen, in television, change is the only thing that’s permanent.’ We aren’t here forever but with the years given us, we give it our ALL.”
“Kapamilyas come and go but our hearts remain bonded for life. I pray and believe for better times ahead for ABSCBN. We are strong. Bilog ang mundo at alam ko, magkikita tayong muli. Wishing you well, Julius!” she adds.
Davila ended her note with, “On a light note, I can’t find good photos of us in 2004 & 2010. Wala pa kasi along [Instagram]!”
Babao responded to the post, saying, “Great to see you again, Karen! We will still see each other soon over coffee, lunch, and dinners… I’m just a stone’s throw away from you!”
Apart from the shows Davila mentioned, Babao has hosted other programs on ABS-CBN, including Alas Singko Y Medya, Talk TV, Magandang Morning with Julius and Tintin, XXX: Exklusibong, Explosibong, Exposé, Aksyon Ngayon, Headline Pilipinas, and Mission Impossible.
Babao is rumored to be joining the Frontline Pilipinas program with Cheryl Cosim.
