Kabanatan: An Online Fundraiser happening soon on March 1-6!

Here’s some trivia 101: resilience in Filipino is kabanatan! An online fundraiser of the same word, organized by a group of college friends that has grown from a birthday fundraiser to a major online event, aims to raise awareness and prove that investing in and caring for the environment ensures true resilience for our country and the future!

Kabanatan: An Online Fundraiser, co-presented by youth organization Mangrove Matters PH is taking place on March 1-6, 2021! The weeklong project aims to raise at least PHP 21,000 for the benefit of One Child, One Tree, a mangrove conservation group based in Hagonoy, Bulacan!

From March 1-6, 2021, different events will be held to raise money and awareness on mangrove conservation, and promote the value of investing in the environment along with a sustainable future beyond the pandemic! These include Kabanatan’s Online Fair that will empower select local enterprises and bring them together for this cause, and the Sundown Session Series– an informal and interactive moderated series of Facebook-streamed discussions on different themes that will be enlightening, empowering, and thought-provoking!

Sundown Session 1: For A Better Future, will formally launch Kabanatan and feature its beneficiary’s founder, and a panel of 4 advocates representing climate policy, mental health, DRRM, and food security envisioning a better world not just for our mangroves, but for the environment and us all beyond the pandemic!

Entitled Partners in Community-Centered Advocacies, Sundown Session 2 features a panel of local and social entrepreneurs and will be about their passion stories, their businesses, along with their advocacies and communities they work with, and the future of advocacy in business!

Lastly, Sundown Session 3 is all about Youth, The Future of International Relations- a field we don’t often hear about! The panel will feature four young individuals from different countries talking about their personal career and passion journeys in IR, the role of young people in the world, and their views on some of the most important issues in the world today- like climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and security!

Throughout the week, Kabanatan’s Online Fair will take place, featuring 13 locally-based food, product and service-based businesses that have pledged to donate a percentage of the entire week’s net profits to the fundraiser!

To donate, please check out bit.ly/KabanatanDonations for bank and transaction details. The money raised from all the activities will be used for the beneficiary’s mangrove nursery construction and the growing of mangrove seedlings!
