With the quarantine underway, survival has been tough on many Filipinos. Businesses have closed indefinitely; and while some are lucky enough to work from home, others are reduced to a “no work, no pay” setup. Worse, some were laid-off altogether! Thus, a lot have been and continue to struggle financially during this pandemic.
Thankfully, many businesses and private groups have come to help. Some of their programs have been geared towards providing medical equipment for health workers or feeding front-liners, while others focus on the less fortunate. And who’s better to call for help than your neighborhood K-noonas?
The “K-noonas buy your food” program is a sub-category of the “The Avengers PH”, a charitable organization set up by a group of friends to help Filipinos get through the COVID-19 crisis. It focuses primarily on providing groceries for different barangays in NCR so that no one ever goes hungry. Not only will these help the less fortunate, but it will also help senior citizens who are living alone, particularly those who cannot go to the grocery stores and cannot afford to buy food for themselves.
To deliver all of this, they’ve enlisted the help of The Philippine Army, their official logistics and distribution partner.
