Justin Bieber and his entourage were asked to leave the Mayan archeological site of Tulum in Mexico after the pop star apparently tried to climb on the ruins, news sites are reporting.

Reports say according to an official of Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History, the incident happened Thursday, January 7, when Bieber was visiting the seaside ruins. The Biebs was apparently on vacation in Tulum for a few days.

Although known for his wayward behavior, a representative from a Mayan ecotourism camp Bieber was visiting said that the pop star was actually respectful, and presented “a lot of interest in the work we do to preserve the environment.”

Justin, together with new girlfriend Hailey Baldwin and the rest of his crew left the coast of Cancun, Mexico yesterday and headed back home to LA.

We’re hoping everything was all just a misunderstanding. We’re rooting for the Biebs’ redemption!
