Actress Julia Barretto has joined her boyfriend Gerald Anderson in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary K9 Squadron as the newest member!
Julia was revealed to be among four new volunteers for the program and underwent an oath-taking ceremony at the PCG’s headquarters in Port Area, Manila. She was accompanied by Gerald, who is currently the lieutenant commander of the K9 Squadron, as well as her fellow new auxiliarists Ando Cruise Catipay, Jalil Laidan, and Harold Jocel Talan.
Julia is also the most senior appointee being an ensign, which is a rank equivalent to the second lieutenant in the Philippine Army.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, she thanked the PCG for the welcome and vowed to support the initiatives of her unit geared “towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people.”
Last March, Julia joined Gerald in their first public appearance together as a confirmed couple in the relief operations at the Lupang Pangako Resettlement Area in Barangay San Agustin where, with the help of the PCG and World Vision Philippines, they distributed relief goods to a total of 300 Aeta families. In July, they went on another relief mission in San Antonio, Zambales where they gave rice and canned goods to over 100 families.
Gerald is said to be one of the most active Auxiliary volunteers, specifically in conducting humanitarian assistance operations.
