As the premier confederation of undergraduate economics organizations in the country, the Junior Philippine Economics Society takes the lead in bringing passion, commitment, and excellence to the Filipino youth.
This May, JPES brings you, The Starter Kit: Future Economist Essentials, a Career Chat aiming to equip economics majors from all over the country with deeper knowledge on career paths, developing leadership skills, facilitating interaction between professionals and undergraduates, and cultivating portfolios. Through identifying personal goals and planning career moves, the event shall serve as a platform to foster the competencies needed as future economists. The Starter Kit is set to unbox on May 28-29, 2021 via Zoom and Facebook Live.
For Ms. Cielo Jabe Saco, JPES VP for Event Management, “In a competitive world, you may find yourself asking, ‘What do I have to offer? What does my degree have for me?’ Those questions motivated us to conduct this event to better understand the versatility of economics and solidify our chosen career paths.”
According to Jana Conanan, one of the standing committee of Event Management, when asked what motivated them to conduct this kind of event, “As one of those students whose first choice isn’t economics, I know the struggle of being confused on what future is ahead of me with this degree but as the years goes by, I saw how interesting and useful economics is. Especially, on how the skills are applied to different careers. We wanted to conduct this event to sharpen and flourish the potential of economics students in planning their career moves.”
