Josh Groban is one of the biggest music influences in my life. I remember his songs playing in our car on the way to my recitals when I was younger. You see, I used to sing his songs during my voice lessons and we had a lot of his albums in our CD collection. My mom and dad love him. Maybe because of his inspiring songs or perhaps simply because of his unique voice.

His voice has a charming charisma that really captures his listeners. Personally, I love how all of his songs have meanings and stories. I once dreamed of hearing his voice live someday, but I forgot about that dream as I grew older because my taste in music changed over time and I started exploring other musicians. When I found out that he was coming to Manila, though, I knew in my heart that I couldn’t let the moment pass.

Josh Groban is my childhood hero. Who would have thought that one day, that small dream would actually come true after 12 long years of waiting? (Thank you, Ovations Productions!)

Aside from bringing his band, Josh made sure that his music was perfect during his one-night-only concert by letting ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra join him onstage. Do you know what made this day extra special for his fans, though?

His duet with Lea Salonga! Guys, I cannot express how perfect their tandem is! They sang a few songs, including “The Prayer” and the hit Broadway song “All I Ask of You”. It’s amazing how a broken leg didn’t stop Lea from being perfect that night; she was even sitting on a wheelchair. It was absolutely breathtaking and the whole crowd was delighted with their performance. I was left astounded and speechless, as well.

Some of my other favorite moments from the concert were when he sang “You Are Loved”, “Pure Imagination”, and “Granted”. I also felt quite emotional when he sang “Granted” because it tugged on my heart. I love how it sends the message of self-love to everyone.

To end the concert, Josh sang his hit covers of “You Raise Me Up” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. By this time, I was already tearing up because I still couldn’t believe that I actually got the chance to watch him live. Filipinos truly love him, and his charm during the concert made us love him even more. We can’t wait to have him back again soon!
