Jolina Magdangal had a few words to say in reaction to the latest tropical storm hitting the Philippines this week being named “Jolina.”
On Instagram, the 42-year-old actress-host shared the announcement of the weather disturbance published by ABS-CBN News on her own account and expressed hope that the rains wouldn’t cause any inconvenience or trouble to her fellow Filipinos.
“Kung ako ang masusunod, gusto ko umulan ng butterflies (If it were up to me, I’d want it to rain butterflies),” she wrote on the caption. “Stay safe everyone.”
Her “Magandang Buhay” cohosts couldn’t help but share their own thoughts on the storm’s name in the comments section of her post and joined her in staying optimistic that the weather will be as kind as she is.
“Sana mahinahon lang ‘yan tulad mo! (I hope it’s as gentle as you are!)” remarked Karla Estrada.
“Please be good to us momshiejols,” said Melai Cantiveros.
“Sana nga hindi maging disastrous para di matanggal sa listahan! (I, too, hope it won’t be disastrous so it wouldn’t be removed from the list!)” Jolina jokingly replied.

The name “Jolina” is part of PAGASA’s current set of names for weather disturbances that are alphabetically arranged. PAGASA reportedly uses four sets alternately every year. Names of typhoons that end up being deadly and destructive are immediately replaced with a new name.
As of Wednesday, September 8, PAGASA has identified Jolina as a severe tropical storm and is moving west northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour. It continues to bring heavy to intense rains over Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Meanwhile, storm Kiko has intensified into a Typhoon.
