Joel Lamangan Receives a Lifetime Achievement Award in New York

Whether you’re aware of it or not, chances are, you’ve seen a Joel Lamangan movie.

His talent and ubiquity was recognized in New York, as the director was lauded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Directing at the International Film Festival Manhattan 2019.

The citation was awarded on October 16, 2019 at the Philippine Center Kalayaan Hall in New York City. It was then shared by the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Facebook page.

Lamangan is known for his films  The Flor Contemplacion StoryMila, Mano Po, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh, Rainbow’s Sunset, and more.

He has won the Best Director Award for his films Muling Umawit ang Puso (1995), Mano Po (2002), and Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love (2009) at the Metro Manila Film Festival.
