Entertainment columnist and radio show host Jobert Sucaldito has filed a complaint to the Department of Labor and Employment against ABS-CBN Network regarding his “unlawful dismissal” from radio station DZMM following his controversial rant against Nadine Lustre back in January 2020.
In an interview with PEP and other onsite reporters, Jobert claimed that, on January 10, DZMM station manager Marah Capuyan had given him a letter suspending him from the show without pay until further notice over violations of ABS-CBN News’ Standards and Ethics Manual. Despite protests and his refusal to sign the letter of suspension, Jobert was no longer allowed back to host his show Showbuzz. He added that he did follow up on his suspension case but was constantly told that it is still being investigated by the ethics committee.
Jobert, with the help of his lawyer Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, then sent a letter on February 7 addressed to Capuyan urging her to reinstate Jobert within ten days or else they will pursue legal action. After not hearing from them, Jobert forwarded his complaint against his suspension to DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello on March 4.
Regarding the whole issue, Jobert told the media: “I’ve been working with ABS for twenty years. And seventeen years of which I was with DZMM. Tapos ganyan-ganyan? Sipain niyo ako just because of the trolls, yung mga fans na nagrereklamo? Hindi man lang inisip kami that worked for you? Asan na ang mga puso niyo? Asan mga puso niyo? Tatanggalan niyo ako ng trabaho, di ba?”
“What happens to my family, what happens to my children? I send them to school. What happens to my household? Alangan namang palayasin ko ang katulong ko, ang kasambahay ko, kasi wala na akong trabaho, ‘no,” he continued.
He added: “It’s very painful, it’s very, very painful. Kasi, unang-una, maliit na tao lang ako sa industry nating ito, pero you know my loyalty. I was a good soldier. Nung sinabihan niya ako na to do this and do that, I did it. I did them.”
“Pinag-apologize niyo na ako, di ba? Ano gusto niyo gawin ko? Tumalon sa building para mapatunayan na I’m sincere?”

DZMM and ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs have yet to comment on this issue.
