Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile is confined in a hospital intensive care unit (ICU) due to pneumonia, according to Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
During a Senate plenary session on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Estrada said he received the information from what he described as a “very reliable source.”

“Juan Ponce Enrile is currently in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital. And I heard from a very, very reliable source that he has slim chances of surviving, and I hope that all of us here present can have a short prayer,” Estrada shared during the session.
Enrile, who turned 101 years old in February, was last publicly seen in October, when he attended the promulgation of his graft cases via video call from a hospital bed. He appeared visibly weak during the appearance.
The former Senate president had earlier been cleared of all pork barrel-related charges.

Enrile’s daughter, Katrina Ponce Enrile, has released an official statement confirming that her father remains in the ICU where he is being treated for pneumonia.
“He is under the dedicated care of his attending physicians and medical staff who are providing him with the best possible treatment and attention,” she shared on Instagram.
She also extended the family’s appreciation for the public’s support, adding, “We are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers, and support extended to our family during this time.”
