Jennylyn Mercado Practices Philippine Martial Art And It Is NOT Arnis

Jennylyn Mercado is one tough mama!

We know that Jen is a sporty gal, who does a host of sports such as swimming, cycling, running and plana forma, and has trained in martial arts such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu. No wonder she keeps such a toned physique!

Now, Jennylyn is apparently getting into a local martial art, and it’s probably one you haven’t heard of yet.

The 30-year-old actress just posted a video of her training in the Philippine martial art of “balintawak”, and she looks pretty awesome doing it!

According to the Tabimina website:

It is a martial art that gives importance to both physical and psychological aspect of the fight with a single stick or ‘olisi’ as a training tool to bring out the necessary reaction, which are innate within the human body. These reactions are reshaped and remolded to facilitate efficiency, precision and economy of motion in accordance with the individual’s natural body movement. With this in mind, the individual is able to generate speed, power, timing, accuracy and intent based on the individual’s comfort zone.

Interesting!
