The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines stated in its updated guidelines that single-entry and multiple-entry temporary visa applications may take several weeks due to the increasing number of Filipino visitors.
With that, the embassy urged aspiring visitors to submit their applications at least two months before their intended travel date.
“Due to the rapid increase in the number of visitors from the Philippines, examination of visa applications for tourism purposes, may take several weeks longer than the standard processing time,” its official website noted.
“Therefore, we highly recommend for applicants to please apply at least two months prior to the date of travel.”
Previously, the processing of a Japan visa only takes seven to 10 business days.
Meanwhile, the requirements remain the same, including a valid Philippine passport with two blank pages, a visa application form, a passport photo, an original birth certificate, an itinerary, a bank certificate, an income tax return, an employment certificate, and if married, an original marriage certificate.
