After Jake Ejercito shared to friends and followers that he had flown all the way to Siargao for the first time to fetch his daughter Ellie and bring her back to Manila, fans couldn’t help but praise him for being such a great father to her.
The slew of positive comments didn’t escape Jake’s attention, and he managed to pen a heartfelt message of gratitude to everyone on his Facebook post.
“Been receiving lots of positive comments about me being a “good” dad to Ellie. Though I am truly humbled by and appreciate all the kind words, I honestly don’t think I’m doing anything special. I’m just trying to be the best dad for my daughter,” he wrote on his post.
“With that said, I’d also like to point out that I couldn’t have done it alone, especially at the beginning at such a young age and in a less than ideal situation.”
He then gave credit to everyone else responsible for raising Ellie, such as his own family, friends, helpers, and Ellie’s mom Andi Eigenmann.
“God knows how it would’ve turned out without the guidance and support extended to me/us by my parents, siblings, relatives, friends, and our kasambahays. And of course, Andi’s been a great co-parent too. They da real MVP’s!” he said.
“The photos and videos you see are mostly just me and Ellie, but it does take a village to raise a child and boy do we have an awesome one.”
To end his post, Jake gave a few words of encouragement to other young dads like him also raising their children. “There’s nothing more fulfilling and beautiful in the world than to grow with and be best buddies with your child,” he shared.
Jake briefly stayed in Siargao last week before taking Ellie home with him and enjoyed his experience with her as his tour guide.
Ellie regularly flies to Manila during the school year to attend her classes and goes back to Siargao with her mom during breaks and vacation. Because of the pandemic, however, Ellie stayed in Manila for a year before reuniting with Andi in early March.
Ellie is currently 9 years old.
