GMA-7 has made it official: Mr. M is now part of the Kapuso network!
The announcement was made on Tuesday morning, July 13, less than a day after GMA-7 shared a cryptic post saying that a “pillar” in the Philippine Entertainment industry is “making a move,” highlighting the two “M”s. Netizens didn’t think twice as they flooded the replies with their guess that the post is referring to Johnny Manahan, popularly called Mr. M.

This announcement comes after Korina Sanchez shared a screenshot of an online meeting she had with Mr. M as well as other executives on Instagram a few days ago and seemingly confirmed that the icon was now working for GMA-7. Korina also mentioned in the caption of her post that Mariole Alberto, who had likewise formerly headed Star Magic, made her transfer too.
Mr. M has been a longtime figure in the entertainment industry, working as a writer, actor, director, and manager for many talents in local showbiz. He helped build the careers of many successful celebrities today including Bea Alonzo, who had just made her controversial network transfer recently as well, Piolo Pascual, Daniel Padilla, and Kathryn Bernardo.
In the wake of the ABS-CBN shutdown, however, Mr. M revealed in September 2020 that he left his position as chairman of Star Magic.
Later, he produced a now-defunct variety show on TV5.
Now that he’s part of GMA-7, we’re certain that this is going to open a whole new chapter in Mr. M’s career and most likely bring a significant change to the local entertainment industry.
