It’s legit — Johnny Depp is joining the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!
The news came from David Yates, who directed the last four chapters of the Potter series and will continue with Fantastic Beasts.
News broke last week the Pirates of the Caribbean star had been confirmed for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, fuelling online speculation over which character Depp would be playing.
Fans were in a frenzy after news first broke out that Depp was the frontrunner as Gellert Grindelwald, one of the most dangerous Dark wizards to have ever lived, who will be making an appearance in Fantastic Beasts!
Yates confirmed the casting to popular Harry Potter fan site, Leaky Cauldron on Tuesday that Depp will be playing the former friend and love interest of Albus Dumbledore.
