It’s Official: A Harry Potter Theme Park is Opening in Japan

Earlier this year, it was reported that Japanese Company Seibu Holdings has been in talks with film giant Warner Bros. about building a Harry Potter attraction in Japan. Well, Potterheads, time to rejoice because it is now officially happening!

The all-new Harry Potter theme park will be located in the city of Nerima in Tokyo, Japan. Seibu has announced that the 94-year-old Toshimaen amusement park that currently stands on the same site will be closed down in August, to make way for the construction of the Warner Bros. attraction.

Potterheads will be delighted to learn that unlike in Universal Studio where the Harry Potter attraction is just a part of a big park, the one in Nerima will resemble the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, UK where guests can actually feel like a part of the wizarding world. Visitors can get a view of the movie franchise’s production sets, props, and walk down the popular Diagon Alley.

The target completion date for the Harry Potter theme park is on the first half of 2023.
